AC Blowing Hot Air in Beavercreek, Ohio?

Why is my AC Blowing Hot Air?

When you get home from a long day at work, or taking the kids to their practices, or even just hanging out with some friends, the worst feeling is sitting down for the first time and feeling hot air blowing through your vents on a hot summer day. Before calling a tech to come out and look at your AC, let’s look into some of the reasons why your AC might not be working correctly.

The number one cause of an AC blowing out warm air would be that your system is just low on refrigerant. How much coolant you need is all based on how big your unit is.

Another significant cause of not having any cold air coming out of the vents would be you might have your thermostat set incorrectly. It might sound like a silly problem to have, but it happens! Make sure you have your thermostat set to “auto” and not just “on”. Having it set to “on” means even tho you feel air coming out of your vents, your system isn’t actually creating cold air. The fan might be spinning, but no cold air can be produced if the whole AC system isn’t running.

Your AC coil might also be dirty and be clogging the piping. To get this piping cleaned out, Its as simple as having an AC tune-up and that will cost you much less than what a broken part might! To make sure this doesn’t happen in the future with your coil getting clogged, make sure to get your Tune-up every spring and fall, so your units stay nice and clean to work correctly!

It could also be as simple as you need to change your air filter. If the filter can’t do its job to make the air clean coming into the system, then no air can get through at all! Dust build up can get stuck, and then nothing can be passed into the system. Therefore, it will overheat and shut itself down.

The last main problem with a unit is more severe and will need a professional. If you have tried everything above and it’s still having trouble, please give us a call into the office at 614-837-4026 for more help. If it seems the unit is still blowing hot air into the home, it could mean that the circuit breaker has been tripped or the fuse box has blown. In better terms, everything that gives your unit power is now blown and should only be looked at by a professional.
